Taylors - Espresso - Cafetière

It's been a dry time in the Cambridge coffee club, for although Mr Cold has been up to his usual antics there has not been a drop of club coffee drunk for almost 2 Weeks!

So I thought I'd take the opportunity and write up one of our previous reviews. As you may expect the espresso blend from Taylors is stronger than the previously reviewed after dark blend. It has a strength that is capable of lifting the early morning fog from an entire nation yet it's balanced enough to not tear holes in your throat as you slurp it down.

It is finely ground for espresso machines, but we enjoy life on the edge so decided to brew using our glass cafetière. The risk paid off, provided you can cope with a layer of sludge at the bottom of the cup - we did.

To say it was just pleasurable would be an understatement, however it doesn't leave me bouncing off the walls with excitement either.

Mr Cold and the camp coffee

Today Mr Cold continued on his coffee based travels and discovered that it is possible to have a decent cup of coffee even when you are without your normal coffee making amenities. This weekend Mr Cold travelled south, to the far side of the great Metropolis. There within our canvas castle we met some fellow slurpers and enjoyed a nicely percolated brew around the camp fire.

Taylors - After Dark - Cafetière

Well, there have been many disgruntled comments within the Cambridge Coffee Club along the lines of "We've been drinking all this coffee where are the reviews that we were promised?" Well let me try to address these comments here and now with the publication of our first coffee review.

And what a way to start, this is a little corker of a cup of coffee. It has a delightfully rich deep aroma, the taste is smooth and lingers on the tongue, gently reminding you of the great brew you've just finished.

We used classic glass cafetière with enough ground coffee to create a strong but not overpowering beverage (2 heaped dessert spoons peer cup).

It was pleasure personified.

Arise Lady Bird

Today was a very important day, it is a day that will go down in history and be talked about for generations to come. Forget the London Olympics starting in just under 3 days time, or Bradley Wiggins becoming the first ever British person to win the Tour de France, no today was far more monumental, for today saw the official naming ceremony for one of the founding members of the Cambridge Coffee Club. So please join with me and formally welcome Lady Bird to the club.

A new club member...

Today saw the application for club membership from a new direction.

Whilst out and about one of the club members was approached by a shady looking creature and asked whether there was room at the coffee cup for another little mouth in need of nutty and aromatic caffeine hit.

The ensuing conversation revealed what a pleasant and charming gent he is, with a deep knowledge of both bean variety but also the different roasting techniques.

His application certainly has my support, please use the poll on the left to indicate your support. So what do you think, should we extend 'Mr Cold' a courteous and warm welcome to our fraternity?

A blast from the past!

Brilliant, this is what coffee appreciation used to be like.
